In Gears Tactics we wanted to have a large variety of atmospheres - weather and lighting conditions - that can be remixed with many of our levels to drastically alter the look and feel of a level.
These are some early concepts that we presented to the team, that then recreated them in the game. After this we were providing a lot of feedback, overpaints and breakdowns of elements to help solve some of the issues that came with a system like this.
It was a lot of fun working closely with the Lighting, Tech-Art and VFX teams and I am very happy of how these turned out in the final product. We ended up cutting back on some of these ideas, since some were not suitable for the narrative or the timeline.
