This is a concept of a Locust Torture Pod used by Ukkon to extract information from captured COG soldiers. Gears has had torture pods before, but after investigating the original asset we realised that we needed to redesign it.
In order to work with our camera it had to be recognisable from far away, and needed show the captured COG soldier inside as you fight to rescue them.
I was given enough time to solve the mechanism and to do a quick 3D animation test in Maya to visualise, how it would look like when a soldier would pry it open.
